SolarEdge fault codes after a storm
An isolation or ground-fault alert can involve PV wiring, connectors, modules, or optimizers; it does not automatically mean the inverter must be replaced. A communication alert may affect monitoring while production continues. Site testing and manufacturer guidance help distinguish these conditions.
A real Tallahassee string-fault repair traced the problem to a poor connector termination. Share the exact SolarEdge alert and when it began, without opening equipment covers or performing electrical tests.
If faults began after wind, water intrusion, or an outage, see post-storm solar assessment and recovery. Avoid restarting damaged equipment. Solar Off Grid Solutions provides independent service; manufacturer approval and warranty terms are reviewed separately.
SolarEdge not producing—or just not reporting?
Power production and monitoring communication are separate functions. A missing chart in mySolarEdge does not by itself prove the inverter has stopped producing. A service visit starts by identifying which part of the system needs attention.
What to send before a visit
- Your city and ZIP code, plus the inverter model and serial number if readily accessible.
- The exact error code or alert, when it began, and whether the issue is constant or intermittent.
- A screenshot showing when monitoring last updated and any visible production history.
- Whether all panels are affected or only certain optimizers are missing from the layout.
- Any existing support-case or RMA number and whether replacement equipment has arrived.
Photograph accessible labels and indicator lights without opening equipment covers. Please do not send account passwords. Monitoring access and any manufacturer requirements can be discussed during scope review.
SolarEdge diagnostics and replacement labor pricing
- System health check: $175 baseline. Production, inverter, and monitoring review.
- Advanced diagnostics: $225 baseline for the first 90 minutes. Additional diagnostic labor is $125 per hour, billed in 30-minute increments.
- Inverter warranty replacement labor: $400 baseline. One readily accessible, wall-mounted string inverter, with a manufacturer-approved replacement supplied. Includes setup, monitoring reconnection, AC/DC and production checks, and up to one hour of troubleshooting related to the swap.
The replacement-labor baseline does not include battery or hybrid inverters, rooftop work, parts, permits, travel, return visits, specialty access, or extra technicians. Deeper faults and pre-existing problems require a separate scope.
Prices can fluctuate with equipment, materials, access, travel, site conditions, and the work required. Manufacturer approval and warranty coverage are separate from the labor quote. If you have a service plan or labor coverage, confirm those benefits before arranging paid work.

From a fault report to an approved repair
1. Identify the problem
Review the fault history, monitoring information, and equipment condition. An inverter alarm can require checks beyond the inverter itself, so the next step depends on the findings.
2. Review the warranty or repair path
Diagnostic findings and manufacturer communication can be included in the agreed scope. A replacement requires manufacturer approval when using the RMA process; eligibility and equipment availability are confirmed case by case.
3. Complete the agreed work
Once the scope and equipment are ready, schedule the visit. After an approved inverter swap, check operation and monitoring, explain the findings, and discuss any remaining issues before additional work.
SolarEdge service questions
My original solar installer is out of business. Can I still request service?
Yes. Send the inverter details, location, and a description of the problem. Solar Off Grid Solutions can review an existing system even when the original installer is unavailable. Monitoring access, warranty status, and any manufacturer involvement are reviewed before work.
Does an inverter warranty automatically cover onsite labor?
Coverage depends on your warranty, installation agreement, and any separate service plan. Do not assume a hardware replacement authorization covers diagnostics, travel, or installation labor. The quote identifies the paid service scope before scheduling.
Can a missing optimizer be diagnosed?
Yes, optimizer reporting and related wiring concerns can be reviewed. A missing item in the monitoring layout is a starting point for diagnosis, not proof that the optimizer itself has failed. Rooftop work and replacement labor are scoped separately.
