Tallahassee solar repair case study
Solar system not producing: string fault traced to an improper connector crimp.
A Tallahassee solar system had stopped producing after a string fault caused the inverter to shut down. Electrical testing and isolation led to a field connection with an improperly crimped conductor.

The problem
The homeowner’s system was not producing. During diagnosis, one string showed a fault condition and the inverter would not remain in normal production.
The diagnostic process
I tested and isolated the affected circuit instead of assuming the inverter itself had failed. After narrowing the fault to the string, I separated the relevant connections for inspection.
What I found
One field connection had an improperly crimped conductor. A poor termination can create an electrical fault even when the rest of the system appears intact.
The repair and result
After correcting the connector termination, I reassembled the connection, powered the system back on, and confirmed that the inverter returned to full system production.
This is why a solar system that stops producing needs diagnosis before parts are replaced. String faults can come from connectors, wiring, modules, optimizers, insulation problems, or other field conditions.
